Set It Off – Our Annual Flagship Productions

Set It Off is Bring It To’s yearly community dance theatre production – a bold, high-energy celebration of real stories, movement, and lived experience. Each volume shines a light on social themes that matter, bringing together dancers, creatives and communities from across the UK on a professional stage.

Set It Off: Vol. 1 – Belgrade Theatre, Coventry

Our debut production at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry launched the Set It Off journey with a powerful mix of choreography, storytelling and community spirit. Featuring dancers from different cities, ages and backgrounds, Vol. 1 explored resilience, identity and the courage it takes to “set off” on your own path.

This first show set the tone for what Set It Off stands for: raw talent, honest narratives, and a space where community dancers are treated like professionals.

Set It Off: Vol. 2 – Empower Her at Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), Birmingham

Set It Off: Empower Her took the production to the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) in Birmingham, evolving the project into a full two-act dance theatre experience.

Centered on women’s stories, Empower Her journeyed through:

Misconceptions, stereotypes and barriers women face
Intersectionality, motherhood, education and the workplace
Joy, celebration, sisterhood and collective empowerment

With a cast of community performers and emerging professionals, Empower Her combined dance, film, spoken word and visual storytelling to honour women’s experiences while challenging the narratives placed on them.
