Serious Violence and Crime Project with NCT and Northamptonshire Police
Bring It To has collaborated with Northampton City Council on a project running from March to October 2024. Together, we've been crafting a series of engaging TikTok films alongside young individuals who are supported by Children in Need and Child Protection Plans within the Northamptonshire Children’s Trust and Northamptonshire Police. This initiative aims to address the pressing issues of gangs and exploitation, with the ultimate goal of educating and deterring children and young people in Northamptonshire from getting involved in such risky activities.
The project is driven by youth leadership, with professionals providing support to bring the vision to life. The TikTok short videos are entirely created and designed by the young participants themselves, ensuring that the content resonates effectively with their peers. Our workshops in Northampton have provided opportunities for these young individuals to actively participate and contribute to the project.

Positive Impact: This project aligns with the Serious Violence and Crime Team's mission to reduce gang-related activities and exploitation among children and young people.

Approach: By targeting the root causes, raising awareness, and educating children and young people, we aim to prevent future criminal activities, thus saving resources in the long run.

Community Engagement: This initiative will foster collaboration and cooperation between various stakeholders in our community.

Empowerment: Empowering children and young people to make informed choices is an essential part of this initiative.

EMPOWER HER
Our project is dedicated to empowering females aged 8 - 40 from diverse backgrounds. Through our 14-week development programme at the Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham, we focus on enhancing mental health and fostering confidence.
The programme targets three key areas: improving mental and physical health, developing confidence, and acquiring life skills. We recognise the need to support women from underserved communities in Birmingham, as evidenced by previous workshops revealing common struggles such as low self-esteem and mental health issues.
Our programme consists of weekly, two-hour sessions on Mondays, promoting female empowerment through various activities addressing these key areas. Additionally, we provide monthly childcare during sessions to accommodate all participants. Activities include dance and fitness, nutrition, reading groups, and self-esteem exercises.
A monthly awareness day at the Midlands Arts Centre encourages open dialogue about mental health and offers access to counselling and relevant agencies. Throughout the 14 weeks, all the information and skills we learn will be transformed into a theatre production, celebrating the participants' achievements and addressing mental health stigma within the community. Leveraging word of mouth and our effective Instagram platform, we prioritise raising awareness.
Ongoing participant consultations and feedback enable us to remain community-driven and evidence-based in shaping our future endeavours.
